Supporting Conservation
We have been supporting World Land Trust since 2010, currently, through their Buy an Acre programme, to purchase a quarter-an-acre of land each month, to preserve and restore wildlife habitats under imminent threat of destruction.
Our contributions to World Land Trust have helped to protect several reserves across Ecuador including the Río Canandé Reserve in the wet Choco and the dry forests at Laipuna.

Solar Powered
The most significant way that we are reducing our CO2 is by generating our own renewable electricity from on-site Solar Panels, which powers our Eco Data Centre and Office. Our large array of solar panels can provide up to 80% of the electricity that we use over a year.
Carbon Neutral
While we aim to have a carbon footprint of zero, we do still produce a tiny amount of CO2 each year, which we offset via Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) approved Portel-Pará REDD Project to reduce deforestation in the Amazonian Rainforest, Brazil.
For each tonne of carbon, we offset in the Brazilian Amazon we offset the equivalent amount of carbon through local tree-planting projects, along with our conservation support with World Land Trust, this gives us a sizeable negative carbon footprint. [Carbon Neutral Certificate]
Tesla Solar Energy Storage
Even after dark, the Sun still powers our Green Hosting! When the Sun goes down, on-site solar power generation stops, but that does not mean we cannot use the electricity generated in the day time. Thanks to our Tesla energy storage systems, we can store excess solar energy to use overnight.
100% Renewable Energy
Our Green Hosting is powered entirely by 100% Renewable Energy. Additional electricity not produced from on-site solar power comes from our electricity provider Bulb Energy Ltd, with 100% of their electricity coming from renewal sources.
Free Air Cooling & Heat Recovery
During the winter months, we have developed a Direct Air Cooling and Heat Recovery System using digitally controlled EC Ducting Fans to cool the Data Centre and the waste warm air recovered and circulated within our facility. The system consumes as little as 200 watts, which is 250 times less energy than Air Conditioning would use to keep the Data Centre cool while saving on heating by keeping our Office nice and warm during the winter.
Energy-Efficient Servers
To reduce the amount of power consumed by our servers, we choose to build each server in-house for the job at hand. By utilising energy-efficient and low voltage components, we can reduce our energy usage by up to 80% compared to regular off-the-shelf servers.
Server Virtualisation
To further reduce our carbon emissions, we use Server Virtualisation, which has environmental advantages as it allows us to reduce the amount of physical hardware we require by 90%, while also improving reliability and uptime.
Eco Data Centre
Completed in May 2018
